I'm still bouncing with excitement that the paperback version of The Aquamarine Necklace: A Janice Maidstone Mystery was released in the middle of July. Now, on August 1, the kindle version is available.

If Police Procedural Murder Mysteries are your jam, I hope you pick up a copy. I've enjoyed creating the character, Janice Maidstone, and look forward to her continuing a great career with the Calgary Police Service. Or maybe, she'll head back to Saskatchewan. Even I don't know what she's going to do, yet!

I've had a few people ask me, "How much of the book is based on my own short career in the RCMP?"

There are no direct experiences that I've shared (humm, except for Janice's first autopsy experience), but other aspects of the book are a blend of what I've seen and heard from other members, and things that have come from my imagination. In other words, don't assume this is an autobiography!

There is good and bad in every job, and people who are in your corner, or who want to tear you down. I've been super fortunate that the ones in my corner have always outnumbered those on the other end of the spectrum, but I think many of us have someone like Bleavins who've made our lives difficult.

If you read my book, I'd love for you to leave a review on Amazon, GoodReads, or other review sites. It helps with sales, and apparently, if I receive enough reviews, my publisher might even publish an audio version of the book. That would be grand!!

It's the end of July and only one more month until back-to-school, still an exciting time of year although those years are so long ago. Enjoy the last days of long summer evenings, picnics in the park, and dewy mornings on the golf course.
